Business cards are basically just a way of introducing yourself and your business to someone. It has your name and address and contact details printed on it. And you are telling a stranger all they need to know about you. Now if you decided to use this same card to advertise your business you will not be telling strangers about yourself, but your business and what you sell.

You have now added value to the card and it can be distributed to the public as an introduction to your new business. Print a small map of where your premises are situated on the back of the card so that there will be no doubt in anyone's mind where your business is situated. This will encourage prospective customers to pay your store a visit. This is your aim to get people into your store so that they can shop around and get familiar with your stock. They will come back to you when they require something you sell and will tell their friends about you.

You can print the cards yourself to save money or you can have them printed professionally for a better effect. Whatever you decide to do make sure that the cards are a good representation of your business and you will not feel embarrassed to hand them to anyone you met.

Never let any document or package leave your premises without a card attached to it. You are the advertising expert of your business and this must constantly be in your mind. If you do not advertise how will the public know what service or product you sell?

Network with the cards wherever you go especially to gatherings where there are a lot of people. With the cards you receive you can build up a directory of addresses that could be of use to you later on.

You must distribute your cards at all busy spots like car parks and shopping malls, stations and bus stations so that you catch more passers by. The more people you can make contact with the better. Always be ready with a card when someone comes your way hand it over with a smile and see if you will not be getting more traffic in your store.
