While using the drug in concurrently with a diuretic or other antihypertensive agent (especially verapamil), the dosage need to be reduced.
If it is used concurrently with PDE-5 inhibitors, PDE-5 inhibitor dosage should be started at the lowest dose because of additive orthostatic and blood pressure lowering effects.
Drug descriptions Generic Generic Olyster (terazosin hydrochloride), is an alpha-1-selective adrenoceptor obstructing agent and is a quinazoline derivative. Its active ingredient, Terazosin hydrochloride is a white, crystalline substance. It is generously soluble in water and isotonic saline. These tablets for oral ingestion are supplied in four dosage strengths 1 mg, 2 mg, 5 mg, or 10 mg of terazosin. Indication Generic Generic Olyster is used for management of mild-to-moderate hypertension; alone or in combination with other agents for example diuretics or beta-blockers; benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). This is also applied for pediatric hypertension. Mechanism of Action Generic Generic Olyster is an alpha1-specific blocking agent with smallest alpha2 effects. This drug allows peripheral postsynaptic obstruct, with the consequential reduction in arterial tone, while preserving the negative reaction loop which is reconciled by the peripheral presynaptic alpha2-receptors. It relaxes the smooth muscle of the bladder neck, consequently decreases bladder outlet obstruction. Dosage In hypertension the approved dose for children is initially 1 mg once daily. The dose may gradually be raised as necessary, up to maximum of 20 mg/day. For adults, the early dose is 1 mg once daily at bedtime. Adverse Effects
The use of Generic Generic Olyster has led to dizziness, libido decreased, muscle weakness, vertigo, nausea, somnolence, impotence, extremity pain, paresthesia, back pain. Other adverse reaction that has been reported after post marketing include abdominal pain, allergic reactions, abnormal vision, anaphylaxis, arrhythmia, anxiety, arthralgia, atrial fibrillation, arthritis, bronchitis, conjunctivitis, chest pain, constipation, cough, diaphoresis, diarrhea, epistaxis, dyspepsia, facial edema, flatulence, fever, flu-like syndrome, insomnia, gout, intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS), myalgia, joint disorder, neck pain, polyuria, pharyngitis, priapism, pruritus, rhinitis, rash, shoulder pain, tinnitus, thrombocytopenia, urinary incontinence, vasodilation, urinary tract infection, vomiting and xerostomia.
